Kinetic began with one engineer, one fabrication yard in Sharjah and one principle: hand the client a finished, tested installation, with no chain of subcontractors in between.
In 1992, Mr. Lohani set up a steel fabrication and erection business in Sharjah. His idea was simple and, at the time, unusual: a client should be able to hand one contractor a drawing and get back a working, tested installation, with the same team responsible from the first plate to the final commissioning.
Under his leadership, Kinetic Engineering LLC grew into a specialist in oil and gas storage: API 650 tanks, terminal piping, fire-fighting systems and steel structures. He took his crews and his standards far beyond the UAE, building fuel and edible-oil terminals in the Horn of Africa at a time when few Gulf contractors would mobilise there. The photograph above shows him where he was happiest: on site.
Today the business is owned and led by his son, Haroon Lohani. Kinetic EPC Technical Services FZC, based in Hamriyah Free Zone, carries the same engineering discipline forward with a modern shop, qualified welders, in-house engineering and its own hydraulic jack-up equipment for erecting tanks at remote sites without heavy cranes.
Founder of Kinetic Engineering, 1992. An engineer first and a businessman second, Mr. Lohani built Kinetic on the belief that quality is decided in the workshop and on the site, not in the boardroom. He knew every welder by name, checked plate rolling himself and was on site in Berbera and Mogadishu when the first tanks went up.
The standards he set are the ones we still work to: fabricate properly in the shop, test everything, document everything, and never hand over work you would not put your own name to.
